How long does it take to get the Open Water Diver certification?The open water diver course is a skill-mastery based course that may be taken at your pace. Time to certification depends on each diver's performance. Message or call us for more details.

How far is the Gray Quarry from the shop?The Gray Quarry is only three miles away (about 7 minutes)!

What gear does SMD rent?We rent regulators, non air-integrated computers, BCD's, weights, full and shorty wetsuits (3mm), and tanks (AL80's & 63's). We don't rent fins, boots, masks, snorkels, or octo necklaces.

What certification agencies do you use?We primarily use PADI, but also teach TDI and SDI courses.

What do I need to do to dive at Gray Quarry?The Gray Quarry is open 24/7. To be on property, you must fill out a liability waiver (a new waiver is required every year). Daily entry fee is $15. This may be paid at Smoky Mountain Divers and we will provide your entry wristband. Annual passes are also available upon request.
